"LOOK UNTO ME"

LOOK UNTO ME

Text: Isaiah 45:22 — “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Hebrews 12:2 — “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;”

Introduction

The Triune God issues a simple yet powerful invitation. Salvation does not begin with human effort, but with a response to God’s call: “Look unto Me.”

I. The Command: Look to God

  • God calls people to turn their attention and trust toward Him.
  • “Look” implies dependence, faith, and expectation.
  • Salvation begins when we stop looking elsewhere and fix our eyes on God.

·      Application:  Many people look to their success, relationships, religion, self-help programs and books, or self‑effort for help. God’s command is simple: stop looking around and look to Him. Faith is not doing more—it is looking in the right direction. Faith depends on the trustworthiness of its object. God is trustworthy.

II. The Promise: He Will Save You

  • God personally guarantees salvation.
  • Salvation is not uncertain or conditional on human strength.
  • When God makes a promise, He has the power to fulfill it.

·      Illustration:
When a doctor says, “This medicine will save your life,” the hope is not in how strongly you believe—it’s in the medicine itself. God’s promise doesn’t rest on the strength of our faith, but on the faithfulness of the One who saves.

·      Application:  Some struggle with doubt because they feel unworthy or weak. God does not say, “Look unto me and maybe be saved.” His promise is certain. Trust the promise, not your feelings.

III. The Scope: All Who Look Will Be Saved

  • “All the ends of the earth” shows the invitation is all the people of the world.
  • No nation, background, or individual is excluded.
  • Anyone who responds in faith will receive salvation.

·      Application:  No one is beyond hope. No past is too dark, no distance too far. This truth should move us to both confidence in our own salvation and compassion for the lost.

IV. The Authority: He Alone Is God

  • As Creator God has supreme authority and power over all.
  • There is no rival, equal, or alternative to Him.
  • His authority gives weight and certainty to His promise.

·      Application:  We live in a world full of opinions about truth and salvation. This verse calls us to recognize God’s supremacy and submit to His word above every other voice.

V. The Conclusion: There Is No Other Savior

  • Since God alone is God, salvation can come from no one else.
  • Human effort, idols, and substitutes cannot save.
  • Yet millions of people keep vainly looking for an empty substitute.

·      Application:  People may sincerely believe in many things, but sincerity does not save. Only God saves. This calls us to personal commitment and bold witness.

Closing Thoughts

1.     Salvation is simple, personal, and available now. God does not ask us to climb, earn, or prove—He says, “Look unto Me.”

2.     After saving us, God expects and enables us to walk with Him. Colossians 2:6-7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

We are saved by faith, so also, we live by faith.
