Jesus is the Source and Sustainer of all Life

Jesus is the Source and Sustainer of all Life.

John 1:4 - In Him was Life...

Jesus is the Source and Sustainer of all life, both physical and spiritual. Life produces life. When we trust Jesus as our Savior, we receive new life from Jesus Christ. In his letter to Titus, Paul explains what happens when Christ saves us: Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

That word ‘regeneration’ means ‘new birth’. Jesus had told Nicodemus that he must be born again. Other terms are used in the Scriptures to speak of this new birth:

·        Eternal Life: John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

·        Quickened – Made alive: Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

·        New Creature: 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

·        Born Again: 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

·        Everlasting Life: John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

There is a branch of science called abiogenesis that is attempting to produce life from nonlife. They continue to fail. The same thing happens in religious life. Man attempts to produce spiritual life from other sources than Jesus. He alone is the source of life. We who have been born again, must not forget that Jesus is also the sustainer of our Christian life. Many times, the Scriptures speak of Christ in us and we in Christ. He is the source of our strength. Let’s keep our relationship with Christ living and vibrant.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
