The Power of Christ’s Love
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
Webster’s 1828 - Constraineth: To compel or force; to urge with irresistible power, or with a power sufficient to produce the effect.
As Christians we have this mighty force within us: Let Christ’s love—not guilt or selfish ambition—be your motivation.
- Meditate on His love. Remember that Jesus gave Himself for you. He lifted you up when you were dead in sins.
- Jesus’ love is a force that affects our motivation: “Am I serving only myself, or does this honor Christ and care for others?”
- It is a force that extends to others through me. (1 Cor. 13)
- It is a force of love that affects my choices today. Consider how you use your time, money, words, and abilities.
- Christ’s love is a force that makes me an overcomer of negative, sinful emotions. Love can replace pride, resentment, apathy, anger, addictive behavior, etc.
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
