Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32

Formula:

[Believe on Jesus Christ] PLUS [Continue in His Word] EQUALS [Becoming disciples indeed] EQUALS [Knowing the Truth - Jesus Christ] EQUALS [Freedom from the power of sin].

"CONTINUE" means to stay in a given place, state, relation or expectancy; to abide, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand.

"DISCIPLES INDEED" experience the Freedom that is in Christ. These are those who stay in the Word of God and are building their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They are taking heed to all that Jesus taught: Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 

After speaking of the power of sin to make us its servant (8:34), Jesus gives us hope: John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

DISCIPLES INDEED BECOME FREE INDEED!
