Introduction

We got a great deal on our house when we purchased it over 30 years ago. But it also came with a swimming pool. I have learned over the years that it is easier to keep the swimming pool clean than it is to clean it after it has turned green with algae. Our heart is the seat of our emotions. Our mind, will, and emotions are even harder to keep clean than a swimming pool. But no matter how hard it is to keep it clean, it is easier to KEEP it clean than to clean it back up after it has gotten filthy.

 Keeping your heart clean can help you have a better year. Is easier better than harder?

Would you like less or more drama in your life? It is Easier to Keep the Heart Clean, then to Clean it after it has been Defiled.

Some “Easier thans”

·      It is easier to never take up smoking, drugs, alcohol, pornography, illicit sex, and gambling, than to deal with the poverty, death, and destruction they leave behind.

·      A disciplined life is easier than dealing with the consequences of an undisciplined life.

·      It is easier to love your spouse, than to deal with divorce and its consequences.

·      It is easier to be a giver, than to be a covetous taker throughout life.

·      It is easier to forgive, than to live with envy. Ask Esau.

·      It is easier to be a good citizen, than to deal with the court system after breaking the law.

·      It is easier to be a good citizen of heaven, than to deal with God’s system of management.

·      It is easier to start our day with God, than to go through the day DIY.

·      Is it easier or harder to respond to other’s sinful behavior in a godly or ungodly way? Think of the drama and adversity you might bring on if you escalate a situation.
