Gal 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:



Does evil exist? Yes. Do we live in an evil world? Yes, we do. We also see from Gal. 1:4 that Jesus delivers us from this evil world. Notice that this evil world is currently present. Evil exists, and it is presently existing all around us. 1Jn 5:19 “… the whole world lieth in wickedness.”

What does it mean that Jesus delivers us from this present evil world? Is Paul speaking of heaven? I don’t think so. Jesus delivers us from ‘present’ evil. Though we live in an evil world, Jesus gives us power over evil. In Jesus’ prayer He prayed to the Father, John 17:15“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.” Jesus wants us to live within His grace and peace in this world. 

Paul says that before we were saved, we were “dead in trespasses and sins” and “by nature the children of wrath.” Eph. 2:1,3. We also “through fear of death were all our lifetime subject to bondage.” Heb. 2:15. For the Christian this is speaking of the past – not the present. 

We live in a world and among people like we used to be. Yes, we live in an evil world, but Jesus can keep evil from destroying our soul and spirit. We no longer should live in fear, subject to bondage. Evil has a power over the lost that it does not have over us. Don’t believe the lies of the devil and of this evil world. Jesus enables us to live freely for God, even amid evil. When you are feeling oppressed by evil, God’s grace is immediately available. God will keep you from the evil. 

Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
