The Great Cleansing Power

It is the will of Christ to clean us up, not to just forgive us. He wants to clean us up from the contamination of sin – from all unrighteousness. He scrubs us clean with the Word of God. We read our bible or hear preaching, and we meditate upon the Word of God. Our faith is increased, and our eyes are opened to truth. That truth convicts us, and we respond. Christ begins His cleansing work.

Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it [the church of which we are individual members] with the washing of water by the word,

For years I had quoted 1 John 1:9 without thinking about the last phrase ‘and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ God doesn’t stop at saving us. He cleans us up. He uses several methods, but in today’s blog let’s meditate upon how He uses the Word of God and prayer.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

What unrighteousness is Christ cleansing from your life? Are you desiring for Christ to cleanse you. In John chapter 13 we see that Peter wasn't humble enough at first to allow Jesus to wash his feet until he realized his need. Do you realize your need?

Note: Many have been taught that they are addicts for life. However, that is not true. We have had our Friday night class for almost 18 years and seen many leave their past and addictions behind. The Word of God changed their lives.
