Read the Prophets - 1

Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

The book of Jeremiah is a wonderful book. There is much in this book that reveals the wonder and splendor of God. We see the heart of God towards His people.

There were many good and great things that God wanted to do for His people. Here are just some of the blessings God desired to bless the people with, but did not because they had a revolting and a rebellious heart (5:23):

  • Pastors who would feed them with knowledge and understanding - Jeremiah 3:15; 9:23-24
  • Salvation - 2:22; 4:14
  • Peace - 6:14
  • Healing - 8:22
  • Building and Planting - 1:10
  • Living waters - 2:13
  • Blessings and endurance - 17:7-8
  • Contentment and Satisfaction - 31:14
  • Rest for their souls - 6:16
  • Sleep - Proverbs 3:22-24

Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

We need to appreciate the good things God has done and is doing for us in Christ Jesus.  Let's not be like the Israelites who would "not walk therein."
