What are some ways people are unkind to others? Sarcasm, jokes, belittling, racist comments, ignoring, angry words, impatience, etc.
KEY VERSES:
- 2 Peter 1:5-8 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
- Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
- Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
DEFINITION
Brotherly Kindness: “Serving others like Jesus did, especially my brothers and sisters in Christ.”
GOD SHOWS KINDNESS TO US.
Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
All the Christian graces come from God. Jesus Christ exemplified this grace of kindness. Therefore, Christ expects us to exemplify this grace towards others.
Jesus showed kindness with His hands.
· Matthew 9:27-30 – Jesus touched the eyes of two blind men and healed their vision.
· Mark 8:22-25 – Jesus touched and healed a blind man.
· Mark 10:13-16 – Jesus took children up in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.
· Peter, James, and John were fearful at the Transfiguration when God spoke. Jesus took away their fear by touching them. Matthew 17:6-7 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
· Mark 1:40-42 – Jesus touched and healed a Leper!
· Mark 7:32-35 – Jesus touched the tongue of a deaf and dumb man and healed him.
· Luke 7:12-15 – Jesus touched a dead man and raised him up.
· John 13 – Jesus touched and washed the disciples’ feet.
· Many times, people were healed by touching Jesus. Jesus was easily entreated: James 3:17
