God Sent Forth His Son

God sent forth His Son, and His Timing is Perfect.

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

God’s timing is perfect. He is never late nor too early. He is right on time.

Jesus’ birth came at the perfect time in the correct place to the right woman. Daniel’s prophecy of seventy weeks of years required that Jesus come at a specified time (Daniel 9:24-27).

Christ came and lived during the Pax Romana – a time of relative peace in the world that lasted for a period of approximately 200 years beginning in 27 BC. It was a time of Roman imperialism that brought stability and prosperity to most of the countries under its rule. People had freedom to move and travel. The Romans built many roads and made improvements to water supplies and infrastructures. This made it easier for the Gospel to be preached throughout the empire.

God had prepared the way for Jesus through the birth and ministry of John the Baptist. He was born six months before Jesus. Many of Jesus’ disciples had first been disciples of John.

Jesus came at a time when most of the people could read and write. They had the Scriptures available to them. There were Jewish synagogues (places of worship) throughout Israel and the Roman Empire.

Even before the Incarnation of Jesus, God had prepared everything in advance for His birth. Jesus was born in the ‘fulness of time.’

We only looked at one phrase from Galatians 4:4, but the entire verse is worth studying. It’s a great verse to meditate on this Christmas season.

2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas.
