Meditation on John 3:16

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Most of us have memorized John 3:16. Today, I would like for us to meditate upon the verse one word or phrase at a time. We can dwell on and study just this verse for several minutes. There are many and various truths in just this one verse. Preachers and teachers could preach and teach many different messages from this one verse.

Ask God to show you truths as you divide this verse into words and phrases. Then contemplate which each means. Maybe there is a thought that you can carry with you throughout the day. Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

For God – so loved – the world, – that he gave – his only begotten Son, – that whosoever – believeth – in him – should not perish, – but have – everlasting life.

I like the word “have.” It means to possess. There is surety in knowing that I have and possess everlasting life.

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”

2 Corinthians 9:15
