DAILY DEVOS

DAILY DEVOS

It’s important that we have daily devotions and have something to meditate upon from our study. There are various methods we may use, but one that many have used is to dissect and define. First, after asking God to bless your devotion time, you read a passage of Scripture and choose a verse that interests you. Second, pick out key words from that verse; then define those words. Spending this time on the verse will help you in meditating upon the key idea of the verse throughout the day.

Example Verse: Psalm 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

  • For – Refers us back to the previous verses in which we are satisfied with God and enjoying His pleasures.
  • Thee/Thy – God
  • Fountain – A spring of water – God is our ‘fountain of life’. He gives us physical life and spiritual life. Jesus is the giver of living water (John 4).
  • Light – Light stimulates sight and makes things visible. God enlightens us through His Word to know Him in whom is no unrighteousness or darkness. Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12), and we are to shine as lights for Jesus (Matthew 5).

Thought for meditation: When I am fully satisfied with God and enjoying His pleasures, God continues to guide me with His light and replenish me for a spiritual life with Him in His service.

Come, thou Fount of every blessing;
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
