Call upon God with Expectations
Call upon God with Expectations

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
This is a highly memorized verse that gives hope and assurance to those of us who desire the wisdom that only God can give. No matter what we are going through, God wants us to call upon Him. He is our creator. He created life and wrote the service manual for life. He knows how to make life work. He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3-4).
Jeremiah hears from God at a time when Jeremiah was experiencing great adversity. It is a dark time for Jerusalem. Jerusalem is under siege of the Babylonian army. Food is scarce. Jeremiah is in prison. Some are calling for his death. Within a short time, Jerusalem will be destroyed. God wants Jeremiah to know that this is not the end for the Jewish people. God is giving Jeremiah hope for the future. God will bring His people back to rebuild Jerusalem. Jerusalem will again experience the joy of the Lord.
This is also a metaphor for us. Jesus doesn’t want us to abide in the darkness. He is the light of the world. When we abide in Him, we abide in the light. Too often when people feel they are in the dark, they isolate themselves and remain in the dark for weeks or months. Jesus wants us to intentionally call upon Him. God wants us all to experience of His hope, love, and joy. He will light the path before us and give us wisdom and insight to get through those rough times.
John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
When you can’t figure out the solutions to life’s difficulties, then intentionally call upon God expectantly. He will give you courage to face life with His presence and comfort.
