Be Thankful

Psalm 100:1-5 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

In this Psalm we are commanded to "be thankful." It takes initiative on our part to be thankful. It doesn't take much effort on our part to be angry, bitter, upset, etc. We easily find things to complain about. We must be in command of our thinking process. We must not yield to negative, ungodly thinking. Often God is not in our meditation. In Psalm 104 we aren't just told to be thankful. We are told what to be thankful for. This is a great Psalm to meditate upon today and throughout the holiday season.

In verse three we have three reasons to be thankful to God:

  1. The Lord He is God.
  2. He made us.
  3. We are His people.

In verse five we are told that...

  1. The LORD is good.
  2. His mercy is everlasting.
  3. His truth endureth to all generations.

Whenever you see yourself starting to complain or be unthankful, think of this Psalm. Be thankful that you have a good God!
