Pastor’s Notes – Cantata – Kent York – Christmas Offering

Dr J. C. Joiner 2December 20, 2015

 “YOUR CHRISTMAS OFFERING”

The wise men …fell down, and worshipped Him;

and when they had opened their treasures,

they presented unto Him gifts … (Matt 2:11)

Like the wise men of Scripture, we all have an “equal opportunity”

to present unto HIM our gifts.

Your gift today is one scriptural approach

to the true meaning of CHRISTMAS!
God so loved the world, that HE GAVE His only begotten SON, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

For 56 years, one of the ways the Church family has worshipped our dear Lord has been to give a special Christmas offering in an amount beyond our weekly tithe and faith-promise offerings. We’ve been so graciously blessed, that every member of our Church family ought to be part of this year’s Christmas giving. The offering is needed to repair and recoat the 8,160 square feet of roof on the main auditorium.

Many of our folks gave their gifts last Sunday; if you didn’t, please present your gift to worship the Lord today.  You may designate your offering on a regular offering envelope or use the Christmas offering envelope.

Kent YorkEvangelist Kent York

Please welcome Dr. Kent York in all of today’s services, who has been a vital part of our Church’s mission-family. He has faithfully ministered the Word of God to us in many revivals / evangelistic campaigns and special events. Brother York has a standing “invitation” to be in our Services anytime he is in our part of the country.

Last Sunday through Wednesday, he led a very successful revival here in Tucson for one of our home mission Churches, Sonrise Baptist Church. Thursday night he challenged and delighted all of us at the Adult Christmas banquet

Call, or if you’re into “texting,” text all your family and friends to be in tonight’s service to hear one of America’s Spirit-filled Bible preachers.

It’s Christmas time … do something GOOD for those you love!

Special “Christmas Service”

In order to allow all of us to spend a bit more time with our immediate families, we plan this year, as a Church family, to celebrate a Christmas service on this Wednesday night rather than on Thursday night (Christmas Eve). Unless providentially hindered, every member can make a spiritual priority commitment of being in God’s House to celebrate the first advent of the Saviour. A one-hour service will prepare us to enjoy and appreciate the significance of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Why not encourage family, friends and out of town guests to join this celebration and worship of Emmanuel?   (Please note the regular mid-week service time – 7:00 PM)

To Our Very Dear

New Testament Baptist Church Family

As we say every year at this very special season of joyful celebration of “God’s Unspeakable Gift” (2 Cor. 9:15), words are inadequate to express our sincere appreciation for your faithful praying, generosity, awesome support, and assertions of love to us during this Year of our Lord, 2015.  And, we’ve been blessed in this ministry of a spiritual family that has had so many to love and to serve! We are not aware of any other Church family that has so thoughtfully and graciously cared for their preacher and wife as you have us. During this glorious Spirit-filled time of year, our prayer is that you and yours will experience His miracles again and again!

Please accept this as a “Christmas Greeting” from us in lieu of a card in your mailbox,

Jacque & Preacher

A Challenge to Read through the Bible in 2016

Why should I read through the Bible in 2016?

1.     Since the times of the early church Christians have been reading through the entire Bible to learn more of Christ. He is the subject of the entire Bible.

2.     Many Christians today only read fragmented texts of the Bible. They eat little snacks. They don’t know the context of the Scriptures they are reading. It is important to read whole books. Get the full meal.

Relaxed Visitation Schedule

Due to the flurry of seasonal activities of Christmas and New Year’s, we always forgo the organized Church visitation time on Saturday mornings. Therefore, there will be no regular visitation on December 26th and January 2nd.  In years past, even if we find them at home, we’ve discovered that people are very much pre-occupied with year-end festivities. However, that should not prohibit each of us individually from making personal calls, texting and personal visits to witness for Christ and to invite the unsaved and unchurched to attend our services during this special time of the year.
