Graduation is a very special time!   This time of the year we honor those young people and adults who have successfully completed a milestone in the schooling process. In a day that evidences so many failures and quitters and losers, it is gratifying to witness the determination and fortitude of those who have finished a prescribed course!

We are particularly thankful to our Lord for each of you maintaining a strong Christian testimony throughout your education venture. Education is not just the acquisition of knowledge, but it is the process of learning how to live.  You can borrow “brains,” but you cannot borrow character!  Philosophically, your life is three ingredients:

  1. A life that has a CREED:  “What you believe.”
  2. A life that has a CODE:   “What you do.”
  3. A life that has CHARACTER: “What you are.”

You must live in reality, self-judgment, and self-denial. Essentially, these ought to be education’s primary purposes.   A search of Scripture reveals that Jesus Christ never taught people “how to make a living” … He taught people how to live!   Therefore, stay in God’s Word every day for the rest of your life to be successful in the direction of His perfect will.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.   And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God   (Rom 12:1-2).
