“The last days” (2 Tim 3:1) is evidenced by local church attendance.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Heb. 10:25)
The ministry of Bible teaching, Gospel preaching local Baptist Churches has become increasingly insignificant in this culture, while at the same time, faithful attendance has become a low priority to most professing Christians. Jesus characterized “the last days,” declaring that “iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold (Mat 24:12). Mid-week service and Sunday night service has become an “endangered species” in most Churches. Some have instituted Saturday night services, so the membership is free for “whatever” on Sunday. However, Sunday is not “fun day;” Sunday is the Lord’s Day!
The effective ministry of local Churches in America is diminishing to the applause of a worldly culture that does not want our kind of Church, particularly because of strong convictions about separation from the world-system and godless life-styles. We promote the sanctity of marriage and are pro-life. I constantly appeal to Church members to counter the world-system by faithful attendance in Sunday and Wednesday services. The Bible will continue to be taught and preached four times each and every week. In these “perilous last days,” we need more of God’s Word, not less! See 1 Cor. 1:18.
“Christ loved the church, and gave Himself for it” (Eph. 5:25). The Church (assembly) is not paranormal, but the visible and viable house of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15). Being in Christ (2 Cor 5:17), every born-again, Bible-believer surely loves what Christ loves! It follows then, that Christians will love their local Church where they can give themselves to joyfully and faithfully serve the Lord! The time-limited ministry of New Testament Christians in local Churches ends soon with the Rapture (1 Thess. 4:13-17).
Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:
for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed (Rom 13:11).
