An Ordination Service at 6:00 PM

Ryan Lasater, a recent graduate of Heartland Baptist Bible College, has been called to pastor the Victory Baptist Church in Vail. We are his sending Church, and along with Victory, are requesting his public ordination.

Ordination refers generally to the selection and consecration of spiritual leaders (Mk. 3:14; Jn. 15:16; Acts 1:22; 14:23; 1 Tim. 2:7; Tit. 1:5). Ordination by New Testament churches was accomplished with the laying on of hands (Acts 13:1-3). A church which follows the Word of God has God’s blessing. When qualified men are ordained in a church, the salvation of eternal souls and the edification of God’s people are the intend results.

Just what is an Ordination?

  • Ordination is the recognition of a divine call and a setting apart for special service. God only calls a man into His service; however, the church’s part is to recognize the man God has called. Paul and Barnabas were set apart for the special work to which God had called them … and when they [the local church at Antioch] fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away (Acts 13:3).
  • Ordination is a pledge of support and fellowship. When a man is ordained, those taking part are saying in effect, “We support you; we stand behind you in this work for which God has called you” … and being brought on their way by the church (Acts 15:3).
  • Ordination is a commitment of those called of God to have the enabling grace of God. They had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled … being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God (Acts 14:26; 15:40).

The Church family is now prayerfully asked to join together tonight as Ryan is formally “set apart” for the Gospel ministry.  Ryan and Violet would be so honored to have each of you in the evening service, thereby showing, with your presence, your whole-hearted approval of God calling them into His full-time service.

All are invited to a Reception following the service.
