… the mystery of godliness (1 Tim 3:16)

According to Scripture, there’s ONE God that eternally, equally, and essentially exists as THREE PERSONS: The FATHER, The SON, The HOLY GHOST (SPIRIT).  (Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7) This part of theology is called the doctrine of the Trinity, or the Tri-unity. With our finite mind, we cannot completely comprehend the biblical explanation of ONE God in THREE PERSONS.

Perhaps this “three-in-one” spiritual phenomenon can be illustrated by a physical “three-in-one” concept of H20. Otherwise known as water, H20 can be evidenced in three forms: 1) as vapor (clouds / steam H20), 2) as ice (solid H20), 3) as water (liquid H20).  There’s ONE essence, H20, existing in THREE distinct perceptions, and each perception can exist separately, or with each other, or all together.

Another illustration of “three-in-one:” I, personally, am a “three-in-one”: 1) I am a son, 2) I am a husband, 3) I am a father.  To my parents, I am their son; to Jacque, I am her husband; to my children, I am their father. Though I am one individual, yet I am in reference to these, three different identities / manifestations!

Consider “the mathematics of the Trinity.” God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are NOT 1 + 1 + 1. That would be polytheism since 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.   More appropriately, the divine mathematical equation of the Trinity is 1 x 1 x 1 = 1.  One (God the Father) times One (God the Son) times One (God the Holy Spirit) equals ONE GOD!  Truly, … great is the mystery of godliness (1 Tim 3:16).

God is the English word for the Hebrew word, Elohim. In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1).  Elohim is the first of three primary names of Deity in Scripture – Elohim, Jehovah, Adonai. This unity (uni-plurality) is verbally found in Genesis 1:26-27: And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness … So, God created man in HIS OWN image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (emphasis mine).  Note the “plurality” of God in Genesis 3:22:  And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil … (again, emphasis mine).  The Trinity, the Tri-unity is latent in the name of God (Elohim).  Elohim is used over 2500 times in the Old Testament.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

KIND – Treating others in a courteous, good, and helpful manner in words and actions.

TENDERHEARTED – Having compassion, mercy and tenderness. Opposite of hard hearted, rigid, cruel or severe.

FORGIVING – Pardoning, remitting. Releasing an offender from earned or alleged resentment or indebtedness.

Many companies and government agencies offer classes and seminars in Interpersonal communication skills (IPC). God gives us His IPC skills: the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) and fruits of righteousness (Phil. 1:11). Let’s learn them, apply them and use these skills. God knows all about life and living! His way is often opposed to what we really want to do or say, but God’s way works! Our way of walking after the flesh causes us even more problems. Let’s be kind, tenderhearted and forgiving.

RU Recovery Program

RU Meets Fridays at 7 PM / Sundays at 9:30 AM – Everyone is welcome. We especially need a van driver for Friday nights.

RU has a great curriculum for the study of the fruit of the Spirit and fruits of righteousness: Some RU Definitions from our curriculum: Contentment is when His satisfaction replaces my many personal distractions. Covetousness is when our wanting exceeds God’s granting.– Come join us!

Dawn Davis and Helen Vosburgh are collecting clothing of all sizes for all ages. The clothing should be clean and in good shape. Distribution will probably be on a Saturday in August or September. Everyone will be welcome to participate.

Note: We haven’t received enough children’s clothing. We especially would like to see much more good clothing for children of all ages.
