53rd Faith Promise Missions Conference

A Remarkable Spiritual Experience!

A “Special Thank You” to each that faithfully participated by your attendance and involvement in last week’s Missions Conference. Everyone attending the Conference’s concluding services last Sunday should have received a 2018 missions giving commitment card. (Perhaps you did not get a Card – many were ill last week –  additional cards are available at the back table) If you have not turned in your personal Faith Promise card, please do so today. Remember, this is not your tithe … this is not a “pledge” … do not sign your name … the weekly amount is between you and the Lord. We gather the cards only to determine the collective total amount we can expect from our Church family this year for mission support and projects.  Again, “thanks” for contributing to our Church’s scriptural responsibility of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.

How Does God Supply Your Faith Promise Offering?

The provision of God enabling you to give a mission’s offering beyond your tithe and offering, involves biblical faith that God is able and sufficient … for He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph. 3:20). In His sovereignty, God may employ various (though not exclusive) means to provide your Faith-Promise commitment this year. In the morning services, Pastor will detail the Scriptural basis for our annual emphasis and five ways to recognize your own Faith-promise offering through the year.

~ Prophecy Message Tonight ~

I am very much aware that my Bible messages given routinely on Sunday nights do not compare to the attractive showbiz appeal of a Super Bowl, etc. However, I am also very much aware that routinely gathering together in this sanctuary is ordained by our great God.  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching (Heb. 10:25).

Acclaimed “the world’s most-watched-live-TV-event

Could a Bible-believer imagine his Church showing on an overhead screen a sporting event that includes innumerable commercial advertisements for beer and Hollywood movies, while showing scantly clothed cheer leaders frolicking on the sidelines and wing nuts cavorting in the end zone after a touchdown … only to pause during the half-time for a brief sermonette?  Could a Bible-believer envision the first half of an NFL’s performance preparing the hearts of God’s people for an authentic spiritual challenge by the preaching of God’s Word?

If the Lord tarries His return, we will have our regular Sunday evening service tonight. The deliberate decision between staying home to watch TV on a Sunday night, or being under the sound of God’s Word, is a serious, spiritual choice.  Watching a game of pro-football live, or, for that matter – any entertainment, as a priority superseding the opportunity to hear the Bible preached is problematic.
