“A CHRISTMAS OFFERING”

The wise men … fell down, and worshipped Him; and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts … (Matt 2:11)

Like “the wise men” portrayed in this Scripture, this Church family for 58 years has “worshipped Him” and “presented unto Him gifts.” We’ve annually presented a special Christmas offering in amounts beyond our tithe and faith-promise. We’ve been so graciously blessed, surely all our Church family will excitedly participate in this year’s Christmas giving.

Generally, this offering has been used to improve our facilities.  With increasing threats of violence against worship centers and churches across America, the Deacons and Trustees believe that improvements of building security, surveillance capabilities, personal safekeeping / protection are most worthy projects.  God has prospered us individually and collectively, so the financing of a security project should be amply supplied. In presenting your worship-gift to our dear Lord today, please use the special offering envelope you received in the mail, or use a regular offering envelope and designate “Special.”

Your gift is one scriptural approach to the true meaning of CHRISTMAS:

God so loved the world, that HE GAVE His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

HAVE YOU PRAYED TO REACH SOMEONE WITH THE GOSPEL?

Christmas is a timely occasion to serve and to witness.

The Christmas Cantata scheduled next Sunday at 10:30 AM will be used of God for those purposes … and, for your own spiritual enjoyment. In the bulletin are Cantata announcements / reminders for your distribution this week to family, friends, neighbors, business associates. More of these announcements are available today at the back table. Suggestion: make an iPhone photo and send a personal “Christmas text invitation” to all with whom you communicate.

Next Sunday:

Sunday, December 24 at 10:30 AM – Choir Cantata

Sunday, December 24 at 6:00 PM – Christmas Eve Service

Election of 2018 Trustees and Deacons

We praise our dear Lord for all the faithful men in the Church family! Forty-one men, including incumbents, were interviewed to be the 2018 nominees for Trustee or Deacon. Not all said “yes,” but the following consented to be on the ballot for your prayerful consideration. Each were introduced last Sunday morning, and will be again this morning. The election will be held tonight at 6:00 PM after an opening song and prayer.

TONIGHT AFTER THE EVENING SERVICE

HOT CHOCOLATE, S’MORES,

AND COOKIES

Bring some cookies to share. We will fellowship and sing Christmas Carols.

Relaxed Visitation Schedule

Due to the flurry of seasonal activities of Christmas and New Year’s, we always forgo the organized Church visitation time on Saturday mornings. Therefore, there’s no regular visitation on December 23rd and 30th. In times past, even if we find folks at home, we’ve discovered that people are very much pre-occupied with year-end festivities.

However, that should not prohibit each of us individually from making personal calls, text messaging and visits to witness for Christ and to invite the unsaved and unchurched to attend our services during this very special time of the year.

RU Recovery Meets Fridays at 7 PM / Sundays at 9:30 AM

RU gives you tools to battle victoriously satanic forces that would use bitterness, discouragement, depression, loneliness, addictions, and life’s circumstances to defeat us. We have a great curriculum for the study of the fruit of the Spirit and fruits of righteousness. We minister to all, not to just the addicted. Come visit us.
