Pastor’s Notes – Bulletin for April 30

Dr. J. C. Joiner

April 30, 2017

Welcome Bill and Wendy Rench

Pastor Bill Rench will be speaking in all services. Bill grew up in Tucson and was saved in our church in 1970 after being invited by Jim Smith (Jim Smith grew up in our church and became a missionary to Ecuador). After graduating from Amphitheater High School in 1971 he attended the University of Arizona for one year. He then went to Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and graduated in 1976. In 1987, Bill and Wendy planted Calvary Baptist Church in Temecula, CA. Next Sunday they are celebrating their church’s 30-year anniversary.

The people of Calvary Baptist Church still sing from a hymnal and listen to the passionate and unapologetic preaching of the Word of God. They know that it is the Bible that brings lasting change in their lives. CBC emphasizes missions and evangelism.  Bill and Wendy have done a fine job. They are highly respected not only in their own church and community, but also among the Global Independent Baptist Fellowship.

Endurance Requires Hope

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Romans 12:12

Endurance – continuance, fortitude. The act of bearing or suffering; a continuing under pain or distress being overcome; sufferance; patience.

During sicknesses, injury, financial loss, family crises, conflict, addictions, etc. we sometimes feel like giving up.  But we have a hope. This hope is ignited from the Bible and it rests in Jesus Christ. When you feel like you are in “a dark place” you have the “more sure word of prophecy”: 2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

In 1 Corinthians 15 after speaking of the certainty of Christ’s resurrection and Christ’s coming for His saints and our victory over death, Paul says: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Hebrews 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

God gives us everything we need of His strength and grace for today!

AVOID ISOLATION – WE MUST HAVE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

The redwood tree can grow to 300 or more feet high, but its roots only go down 6 to 12 feet. However, the roots extend to 50 feet or more and intertwine with other redwoods. Just as the redwood tree needs other trees for its support, we as Christians need each other. We must not isolate ourselves from our church and fellow believers. Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

RU Meets Fridays at 7 PM / Sundays at 9:30 AM – Everyone is welcome.We especially need a van driver for Friday nights.
