 2 0 1 7 … and having done all, to STAND.

(Eph 6:13)

…. stand fast in the faith, …. (1 Co 16:13)

All have been highly influenced by the entertainment industry. Like the proverbial frog in boiling water, our culture has been so desensitized to immorality and debauchery, that its moral compass is lost. The Bible details the perilous times in these last days (2Tim 3:1-9). One phrase … “for their folly will be manifest to all” … aptly describes the godless entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood.

Do you turn away from or applaud what “Follywood” spews out? Every Bible believer with convictions who attends a movie theater has felt out of place when a lewd scene flashes across the big screen, and then asks, “What am I doing here?” Or, perhaps at home watching television when all of a sudden vulgar language or erotic behavior causes you to raise an eyebrow at the despicable acts that celebrate lifestyles void of biblical morality. Sadly, most professing Christians seldom regulate entertainment for themselves or for their children. Also, they financially support Hollywood films that instill the flaunting of sin, glorifying the flesh, cursing the name of our God and Saviour (Matt. 22:37).

Is it possible to obey God while visualizing godlessness? Of course, the answer is “No.” The late actor Michael Landon, of “Bonanza” and “Little House On the Prairie” fame – described as the paragon of family entertainment – once said to the Hollywood elite at a Dean Martin roast: “Let’s face it, television is an invention where you’re entertained in your living room by people you wouldn’t have in your house.” Truth exposes what we all try to hide … the reality that our carnal minds (Adamic nature) finds moral corruption tantalizing and entertaining.

Proverbs 1:10 ought to be engraved in the minds of parents: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not,” meaning we should teach children that when” bad” boys / “bad” girls try to get you to do bad things, say, “No.” Shouldn’t God’s Word permeate our thinking, or, do we allow the “folly” of Hollywood productions to gain control of our minds?

God’s people should guard their minds with God’s Word: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil  4:7). Also, Scripture instructs us to think with discipline: … whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Phil 4:8).
