Read Revelation 14-16

Revelation 14

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Babylon got its name from the Tower of Babel that had been built there years before. Many of our holidays, religious rites, symbols, secret societies, and idols originated in Babylon. The culture of Babylon spread over the world and influenced Egypt, Greece and Rome. The city here may be Rome and the church that is established there. The Roman Church brought into it many of the practices of Babylon including the worship of the mother with child in her arms.  Many of the secular practices of Christmas and Easter that the church adopted originated in Babylon.

Revelation 15

The Temple is a place of mercy, but also a place of truth and justice. Here we see angels ready to bring the final plagues upon the earth. They are holy angels in a holy place. They are about to bring death and destruction to the corrupt world.

Revelation 16

Revelation 16:7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

These plagues that bring pain, destruction and death are righteous judgments of God. The people are getting exactly what they deserve. They have opportunity for repentance and mercy, but they harden their hearts against God.

Proverbs 29

Proverbs 29:6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

The sinner gets caught up and restrained in the ropes of his sin. When we don’t sin we are free and joyful, because we are not in the devil’s snare.
