In our church we have many people who may be dealing with loneliness. When we are lonely we feel disconnected from the people around us. You can be in a house full of people or sitting in church and feel lonely. Some try to escape loneliness by staying busy. Others by spending money on food, gifts, and entertainment. Others by chattering on Facebook, Twitter, etc. After all these activities are over, we are still lonely. We can be overwhelmed with self-pity, bitterness, and depression.
God uses our loneliness to teach us the emptiness of superficial relationships with God and others. Our relationship with God needs to be living and real. Only God can satisfy a lonely heart. Psalm 63:3-6 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Jesus understands our loneliness. He can help us. Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Our own loneliness can help us to see the loneliness and pain of others. Our loneliness can draw us into loving fellowship with others. It is possible for us to have many good friends. Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Our love for others must not demand attention, love, or companionship from others. We must not become manipulative of others. We will end up even more lonely, defeated and empty. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.Deuteronomy 31:8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
December Opportunities to Win Souls.
Every church service and event here at New Testament Baptist Church has for its main purpose the winning of souls for Christ. There are many activities in December that we can use for evangelism of friends, relatives, neighbors, and co-workers. Take the opportunity to invite others. Someone who might not come to a regular church service might come to a special dinner or event.

RU Recovery Meets Fridays at 7 PM / Sundays at 9:30 AM
RU gives you tools to battle victoriously satanic forces that would use bitterness, discouragement, depression, loneliness, addictions, and life’s circumstances to defeat us. We have a great curriculum for the study of the fruit of the Spirit and fruits of righteousness. We minister to all, not to just the addicted. Come visit us.
This Friday, November 24, we are having a Thanksgiving Potluck. Please have your food here and ready to serve by 6:30 PM. We will begin serving soon after.
