Labor Day, USA – 2017

A Reminder That We Are Laborers For God!

America has the highest standard of living of any nation in the history of the world! There are many factors making that possible. One constituent will be recognized tomorrow on Labor Day, a legal holiday set aside to honor America’s working people. The bringing together of the laboring class for improving workmen’s economic status and working conditions through collective bargaining with employers, has been rewarded in excessive prosperity for all Americans, essentially producing a vibrant middleclass.

Respectfully, both God the Father and God the Son are “a work-force.”
Jesus declared that my Father worketh hitherto, and I work … my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work (John 4:34; 5:17). Jesus has since gone to glory, and has called every born again, Bible believer into His “work-force” to continue His labor of love until He returns. Our Lord offers the highest type employment, the topmost wages, the finest working conditions, and a retirement plan that is simply out of this world!

The very next event on God’s prophetic agenda is the Rapture of New Testament saints (1 Th. 4:13-18). Immediately following the Rapture, all born-agains will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ where the work of each shall be judged. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is (1 Cor. 3:13). Each believer will be evaluated in a review of service as a Christian. The purpose for such accountability is the gaining or losing of rewards. There are numerous NT verses that prophesy rewards based on works / merit: Mt. 5:12, Mk. 9:41, Lk 6:23, 35; 14:14, John 4:36, Rom. 14:10, 1 Cor. 3:8, 13-15; 9:17,25, 2 Cor. 5:10, Eph. 6:8, 1 Tim. 6:19, 2 Tim. 4:8, James 1:12; 3:1, 1 Pet. 1:7, 4:17; 5:4, 1 John 4:17, 2 John 8, Rev. 2:10, 3:5, 11; 22:12.

Each Christian who has labored faithfully for the Lord enjoys presently a rewarding life… yet, a far richer compensation in the afterlife!  “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him (1 Cor. 2:9). For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister (Heb. 6:10).

Two Considerations:

Are you working in the Lord’s “Labor Union”?

If not, you have the gift of salvation … sadly, not His rewards!

What we can be doing right now:

  • Take spiritual inventory of myself, confess sin, and make needed changes in my life.
  • Make a list of neighbors, coworkers, friends, and relatives I can be praying for to come to the revival.
  • We will have some revival flyers made up. I can give those I pray for an invitation to the revival.

DOOR KNOCKING

On Saturday, October 7 from 10 AM to Noon we will be canvassing the area around the church with flyers to invite our neighbors to the revival. We will have lunch at the church at 12:15 PM for those who participate.

RU Meets Fridays at 7 PM / Sundays at 9:30 AM – Everyone is welcome. We especially need a van driver for Friday nights.

RU has a great curriculum for the study of the fruit of the Spirit and fruits of righteousness: An RU Definition from our curriculum: Love is the willing, sacrificial giving of oneself for the benefit of others without thought of return. — Come join us!

FOOD BANK

After each service, we make available to families in need of a bag of non-perishable groceries (limited to one bag per month). To help us keep our pantry stocked we welcome you to bring in non-perishable items. We do not need any vegetables at this time. We are short on peanut butter and canned meats such as tuna, chicken, Vienna sausage, spam, etc. Please bring your items to the front foyer and let an usher know. Richard and Judy Sabin oversee this ministry.
